Leo loved his boddler yoga taster class with Kalma Life Teesside. In fact so did I 😀
The class venue was at Yarm Wellness Centre just off Yarm high street which was a lovely venue in itself, and perfect for this type of class.
The other parents were really welcoming and it was such a positive atmosphere. I got to have a quick chat with most parents while Leo was roaming around, he was being very confident and sociable today!
The class today was the graduation end of term class for all the regulars. Many of them have been going for a good few years from being only a few months old, which speaks volumes on the quality of the classes. It was also an integenerational class arranged with Teesside Dementia Link Services. What a lovely idea! 🤩
Although the class was structured to a point, with the songs and activities, there was still time in between for the babies and toddlers to free play and the parents to chat. The songs and the yoga moves that accompanied them were very catchy and fun, such as arm stretches to pretend to be a helicopter and rocket.
There were some other yoga activities including swinging in a sling which gives the feeling to a baby of being in the womb again so they feel very relaxed. And then flips to hold your baby in an upside down position (if old enough), which all the little ones seemed to enjoy and smile at. All of the activities have great benefits. Leo loved them all and he giggled quite a bit in this class.
The visitors were referred to as volunteers which I thought was a nice discreet touch rather than referring to their Dementia. You could clearly see the benefits of these classes for them, as they were smiling and relaxed watching the little ones play and learn and getting to chat to the parents. It was nice to chat to them and Leo being in such a social mood even shared his shakers he was playing with and got a quick hold off them 🤗 Not for long mind as he was keen to be off exploring again!
I would definitely recommend these classes, I thought the way they were ran, the pace of it all and the variety of songs and activities was just right. The boddler class I attended was recommended for ages 6-18 months. They also offer classes for younger babies too.
