Role Play Centre Located in Valley Street North, Darlington, DL11PY.
(Ad-PR Visit)
Today I visited this venue with my 3 month old, my friend and her 19 month old.
It is well laid out with enough seating for the size of the venue. The tables aren't too close together so you have space, and they are laid out around the play areas so you can see your child play whilst you relax with a cuppa and maybe some cake š The flooring is all carpeted too so it's safer for little ones š
š§ š Child Facilities šš¶
There are many different role play sections including construction, a fire station, supermarket, vets and peggys tea room. There are also walls with lots of sensory play activities on them. There is also another little area with a dressing up clothes rail, a slide, a ride on car, seesaw, mirrors on the wall and some baby toys too.
The owners really have tried to cover lots of sensory and role play options as well as for baby play too, so it suits a good range of ages I would say from 6 months to up to around 5 years, although older kids could enjoy it also! Sensory play can be really beneficial for those with certain additional needs too.
We enjoyed our visit here. It felt relaxed and not overly hectic even though there were many people visiting at the time. My friends daughter enjoyed the different areas and playing with the toys. Even my baby was relaxed, taking in all the sensory equipment on the walls, looking around at the bright colours and had some tummy time in front of the mirrors. I'm looking forward to bringing him back to play a bit more when he's a little older too.
We spent a good couple of hours here catching up whilst the little one played. It's less noisy than some soft plays can get so it's a nice alternative to catch up with friends or family.
š Party/Event Options š
The owners are currently converting an area into an events/party room which should be completed by January. This would be a lovely alternative to soft play for little ones!!
š„Ŗ Food and Drinks āļø
A reasonable selection of lunchtime options such as sandwiches, soups and snacks on the menu as well as a daily special main or snack. The daily options are changed regularly so that you and the kids can try something different on each visit. They also have snacks on the counter too including cakes, crisps and fruit. Items in the snack boxes or snack plates can also be substituted if you or your little ones would prefer an alternative.
Although we didn't stop to eat, the vanilla latte I got was really nice and at a reasonable cost. We came early so didn't stop for lunch but I would consider it next time, the kids options looked great too and sone nice light bite options for lunchtime for both kids and adults.
Drinks options also change regularly too, depending on the season. For example for next week (autumn time) there will be pumpkin spice syrup available to add to coffees.
Allergies/dietary requirements;
A few different milk options are available including skimmed, semi skimmed and oat milk. All coffees are available in decaf.
All bread and margarine is vegan/dairy free.
Dairy free yoghurts are available.
š§āš¦½AccessibilityšØāš¦½
The venue has 2 sets of double doors and no steps and it is all on one level
so it is wheelchair/pushchair accessible. The toilet has grab rails next to the toilet and sink, and there is a baby changing facilities.
There are sufficient tables and chairs for the size of the venue and with many having room for a wheelchair next to them.
š Parking š
As this is in a location very close to the town centre the parking is limited. There are around 10 spaces available and it is a narrow space to drive into so it would be a bit more difficult with larger vehicles. There is a payable public car park (Chestnut Street Car Park, DL1 1QL) just round the corner approximately 5 minutes walk away or you can get public transport (the X66 from Tubwell Row in the town centre) which stops outside the Odeon Cinema on North Road, a 5 minute walk away. Or you can even walk from the town centre if you are visiting there first in approximately 10 minutes. You can check public transport options from other areas of town at https://www.arrivabus.co.uk/find-a-service
