Princess Alexandra Auditorium ‘Halloween Spooktacular’ Show

Updated: Mar 13, 2023

Address: Yarm School, Yarm, TS15 9EJ

I visited with my son Kamron (6) and my stepson Damon (13). My cousin and her three girls (4,9 and 11) also came along.

ARRIVAL;

Plenty of free visitor parking on arrival in the school grounds. It is right next to Yarm high street so you can also park there if attending when it's busier (charges apply on Yarm high street)

ACCESSIBILITY;

The auditorium building was a short flat 5 minute walk from the car park. It is also accessible with a sloped path to get in the building and a lift down into the auditorium room as there are a couple of steps. There is also a lift leading down into the lounge bar too.

There was also allocated wheelchair spaces on the front row in the auditorium.

BEFORE THE SHOW;

Snacks and drinks prices were very reasonable for this type of venue.

We arrived around 45 minutes before the show we grabbed a drink and we sat down outside on the lovely patio area whilst I waited for my cousin to arrive. This was such a nice relaxing place to sit whilst waiting for the show to start.

Once my cousin arrived we sat for a bit longer catching up before heading in for the show around 15 minutes before it started. There was no rush or major queues even though the auditorium was pretty much full. This was a bonus.

THE AUDITORIUM AND THE SHOW;

The auditorium was small but I found this more inviting and relaxed and also much easier finding our seats without feeling rushed.

The show itself was fantastic with great use of lighting and props. I've seen a few pantos by Tom Rolfe Productions and they never disappoint. Tom Rolfe and his team are brilliant at engaging with the audience and encouraging lots of audience interaction. It was fantastic for kids and there was also some hinting at adult humour in it too but nothing inappropriate.

We enjoyed the storyline for the show, it was exciting to follow lots of music, audience interaction games and dancing at the end to the time warp. It wasn't too scary for kids but enough to remind you it's Halloween (flash photography and video recording is prohibited until the finish so I couldn't get photos during the show but got a couple at the end).

The highlights for us were the 12 days of Halloween song and the dancing ghost and monsters with their neon and glow in the dark costumes.

INTERVAL AND TOILETS;

There was also a 20 minute interval, just enough time to grab a drink and go to the toilets. There are accessible toilets and standard toilets just as you leave the auditorium so you don't have to go too far.

If they are busy there are also some standard toilets downstairs in the lounge bar including an accessible toilet too.

FINAL THOUGHTS;

We all had a great time and would definitely visit this venue again. The ticket prices for all their shows are reasonable too.

Tom Rolfe Productions are doing a Beauty and the Beast Panto for Christmas at this venue too which we are definitely looking to book!
