The Bounce House, Spennymoor

The Bounce House, Spennymoor

LOCATION

Unit 6/7, Green Lane Industrial Estate, Enterprise City, Spennymoor DL16 6JF

Around a 20-30 minutes drive from Darlington depending where you live. Easy enough to find and enough free parking available, including disabled bays.

SESSION TYPE AND WHO WENT

We visited for the family session on a Saturday 10am-

11am. This is a quieter session in terms of less numbers, so a bit safer for younger ones/those with mobility issues, however the music was quite loud so may not be suitable for some SEN children/adults.

It was myself, my sister and her partner along with the kids (Leo-18 months, Kamron-7, Harvey-2 and Sophia-4)

PLAY AREAS

There’s a large inflatable play area which includes slides, climbing walls and an obstacle course, as well as lots of space to jump around. It didnt overcrowded at all (this may be due to it being a family session but I think there was still a lot of space even if busier)

Sophia my niece came. She has cerebral palsy so these sorts of activities can have challenges for her. She did really well here today getting around by crawling and and not feeling overwhelmed and feeling the need to be carried. She even found the other kids jumping around her funny and tried to bounce at times with the help of her mum.

Leo and Harvey loved it all too, particularly the toddler play area when they needed to rest their little legs a bit from the bouncing. This area was good for Sophia too as the floor was hard not an inflatable so she could crawl on it and get on the inflatable bouncy castle or go down the slide in her own time whilst being more steady.

Kamron really enjoyed it all too and liked the challenging parts. He especially liked climbing up the climbing walls and down the slides. I think it’s perfect for his age and I would love to go back with just him and have a go on the obstacle course and slides myself too!

OTHER FACILITIES

They have a cafe serving hot food, a kids menu, hot and cold drinks and snacks. Harvey requires dairy free and a couple of options were given for his kids meal which was good, however snacks wise dairy free was limited. They had plenty of highchairs too.

The kids meal was included with the entry as there was a special offer on when we visited. £10 entry including kids meal deal (or £5 entry only). This came with a hot meal and juice. The food and drinks were all fine no issues. Just the usual kids options at these type of venues.

There was also a sweet shop (very well stocked with all sorts of different sweets, kids will love it in here! This was in another room so could be avoided whilst playing, but you do go have to through it when exiting. I'm sure if you really want to avoid it they may be able to let you out the front)

ACCESSIBILITY

There are baby changing facilities and disabled toilets available.

It is wheelchair accessible to go and watch with the way the seating is set up, so you can spectate all areas. Also anyone that feels they are able to go on with assistance can go on the inflatables asking as they have read and meet the safety rules.

My sister gave a bit of feedback from her point of view for Sophia’s needs. She said the tables had a good amount of space between them for wheelchairs and found it easy enough to get Sophia sorted for food. They were also in a quieter part of the room and didn’t feel overcrowded so this was nice to relax whilst eating. The music was a bit on the loud side on the inflatables, hard to hear each other.

We really enjoyed our visit overall and would definitely return :) At the time of publishing they offer toddler, family and general bounce sessions.

(Please note phones aren't allowed on the inflatables as should they fall underneath they are unable to retrieve them. I took this risk as photos/videos were taken for work purposes, but it's strongly advised against).
